Myrrh visited China in 1997, at an interesting time: Hong Kong (above) reverted from British to Chinese rule just six weeks after her visit. The Yangtze River Gorge shown at right was one of three gorges soon to be flooded by the reservoir of the Three Gorges Dam. The temple City of the Dead at Feng Du was on hill tops when she saw it. In years to come, the hills will be islands in the new reservoir.

Kyoto, where Myrrh spent ten days. Unlike European cathedral towns, the ancient temples and gardens are on the edges of the city.
