YLEM Forums           Poetry

For twenty-eight years, Myrrh conducted Forums for the nonprofit group she started, YLEM: Artists Using Science and Technology.
For fourteen of those years, they were held at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. The group still maintains a web site with its archive.

Although Myrrh never formally engaged in "performance art" some Forums she conducted came very close!

sketch of high-tech equipment   Myrrh is an accomplished, sometimes humorous poet.
Like flesh out of water,
Two-tonnic women with
fluffed-up Nacherul blonde headdresses
cruise the streets of Guat. City
amid little bronze pygmie women in vivid rebozos.

Not lost yet, tho all the streets begin with Santa...
It's time for more SunScreen.
Watch a street vendor cook at the curb,
see the grey tortilla dough
turn surreallian blue over the flame.
So weird! (Dont eat)!

Cruise on in Humngus running shoes,
in white shorts and XL T-shirts,
jutting breasts emblazoned
with corporate logos of
Liki Taco and Juggernaut Village
Tattered paper ornaments. Bad smells.
Towers of peculiar fruit placed on hand-loomed cloths.
Beggars. Sell you something, jewelry, pencils maybe?
(Yes, but bargain, now).
Soda in little baggies? (Unsafe! Unsafe!)

With hands placed on Priceless fanny packs
and Penthouse zoom lenses,
they cruise through the killing heat
in search of a place to park their butt,
Flxible big rigs angling in for a scrap of shade.
